2017 brings a number of exciting new things to Yoga City, including Lotus Boutique, our new retail store in-studio!
Lotus Boutique is designed to bring the very best in yoga equipment and apparel direct to our valued members. It features products our yoga teachers are crazy about and brands that align well with the values of Yoga City.
One of these brands is Teeki, a eco-conscious activewear company that supports your active lifestyle and adventures: yoga, gym, workout, surf, sports, dance, flow, or whatever else feeds your body, mind and spirit.
“As I was planning Lotus Boutique, I knew that Teeki had to be a part of it,” said Mary Vivilecchia, Founder and Owner of Yoga City. “When I wear Teeki, I feel like a goddess – beautiful and free. I love what they stand for. They truly embody everything that yoga is.”
The company was founded by Lindsay Hemric in California in 2012 and its success has led to international expansion.
Teeki sets itself apart in the yoga apparel industry by its commitment to environmental sustainability. All of its clothing is made from fabric that is spun from fibres made out of recycled plastic water bottles, then cut, printed and hand sewn using environmentally friendly practices.
Teeki’s manufacturing process uses 90% less water than traditionally created when making fabrics. One pair of Teeki leggings recycles approximately 25 discarded plastic bottles, and even their warehouse, powered by solar panels, is eco-friendly.
Teeki manufactures everything in the US, keeping jobs south of the border and reducing their carbon footprint. All of their products are made from sustainable or recycled goods in an effort to keep plastic bottles out of landfill.
As a company, they also advocate for what they believe in. They are currently running a campaign on their website in support of members of Standing Rock, with informational videos and advice on how the public can get involved.
Teeki is much more than a yoga clothing company – it’s a brand that deeply cares about local communities and the environment. Did we mention their designs are also super cute?
Check out Teeki at the Lotus Boutique the next time you are visiting Yoga City. You’ll also find other yoga clothing from Liquido, Inner Fire and Jala, handmade Mala necklaces by Annie Langlois, skincare by Skin Essence Organics, yoga mats by B Yoga, and much more!
